I'm baaaaaaack! Long time, no see, Tree Hillers and blog readers! I apologize for my absence, however, I was in the midst of a very hectic semester at school and I jumped on the Brooklyn Nine-Nine bandwagon at long last and kind of got caught up in it. Plus, we've got our hands full while rewatching Season 2. It's a lot to handle, but let's do it! Time for episode 4!
There's a new boy in town! And he's basically the male version of Brooke Davis. His name is Felix and he enjoys skinny dipping in other people's pools and then showing up at school and acting like a total dick. He befriends Mouth, which means he can't be that bad, but he's pretty insufferable. Side note: I totally thought Anna got introduced before Felix, but evidently, I was incorrect.
In other news, Nathan is trying to be husband of the year and buys Haley a really nice keyboard. Only thing is, she wishes it was a car. Now, I don't know much about cars, but I have a pretty good feeling they are a lot more expensive than keyboards. But I get Haley's point; Nathan should've taken the money he spent her gift on and put it toward a car, since their money is shared now that they're married and they are broke ass high school students. See kids, this is why we don't get hitched under the age of like, 25, let alone at 16/17. Let this be a lesson learned.
Peyton has a meeting with some sleazy music dudes about opening a club for teenagers. I feel like it needs to be said that Hilarie Burton is SUCH a good actress here. She plays the innocent, yet hopeful teenager so well here. The look of absolute fear and shock on her face when Mr. Sleazeball pulls out cocaine breaks my heart. It breaks my heart even more knowing what happens later (SPOILERS!).
Pey's story is pretty lackluster in terms of this episode, but it's important for the rest of the series. At the end of the episode, we see Karen showing Peyton the space where they threw Nathan and Haley's wedding reception. After inspiration from her business class, she decides to help Peyton turn it into the club she dreams of. Yay!
In Lucas Land, he's helping Dan recover from his heart attack and attempting to form a relationship with him. The roles are most certainly reversed from season 1, where Nate was the golden child and Lucas was a mere afterthought. It's nice to see Dan and Luke bonding, but also incredibly awkward. And then there's this scene where Felix (the new guy, remember) shows up and starts racing them in his nice car? Honestly it's all very weird and not at all important.
And remember last episode when Miss B. Davis's credit card got declined? Well, turns out Daddy Davis was a dumbass and lost a bunch of their money, meaning Brooke is about to be broke as can be. Peyton assures her there is so much more to her than money, but Brooke isn't buying it (get it?). She decides to shoplift a bra when suddenly Felix (I'm sick of him already, y'all) comes to her rescue. He buys her the bra, and makes some gross comments about how soon he'll be seeing her in it. I mean, to be fair, he's right since they do end up having a "relationship" (if you can even call it that), but it's still a very icky encounter. Of course, Brooke then decides to go skinny dipping in HIS pool to close out the episode. You do you, B. Davis.
Uncle Keith ends up being an absolute saving grace to Nathan and Haley by allowing Nate to fix up an old car at the shop. This means Hales gets to keep her keyboard, and Nathan still wins husband of the year. So, a mostly happy ending for everybody! Yay!
Favorite line: "I love being rich. I'm good at it." - Brooke to Peyton. Coming off last week's Big Little Lies episode, I'm getting major Laura Dern vibes from this statement.
Favorite budding romance: Karen and Andy! I will always be a hardcore shipper of Karen and Keith, but there's no denying that Andy and Karen are also adorable.
Most useless character: Felix. And I say that in a season where Chris Keller is introduced.
Random Observation: Deb is still here trying to be relevant? And trying to be best buddies with Karen? Let it go, Deb.
Until next time! Hopefully it doesn't take several months for me to write another post!
